MERTON’S NEW LOCAL PLAN – If you’re short of reading material over the Christmas break, you might like to dip into the new draft local plan
This will determine Merton’s planning policies from 2020 to 2035. The plan will help guide
how the borough develops over time and “create a vision that enables the council to successfully and responsibly manage growth, while ensuring the best interests of the borough, its residents and businesses”.It’s divided into 15 chapters, one on each of our town centres including Morden and Wimbledon, plus sections on housing, infrastructure and the environment. So you don’t have to read all 452 pages, but you do need to respond on what matters to you by 6thJanuary 2019. This is important; it will determine the future shape of Merton Park Ward, our neighbourhood and our town centres.
