After the success of last year’s Merton Park Ward Heritage Trail, local Councillor Dickie Wilkinson in collaboration with Merton Heritage officer, Sarah Gould, have put together another Merton Park Heritage Trail to celebrate Merton Heritage Discovery Day 2021.
24 historical images of Merton Park have been posted all around the ward in shop windows, on lamp posts, gateposts and trees for you to ‘happen upon’ as you take a healthy jog, walk the dog or simply stroll along to collect you morning newspaper.
This year the trail follows a more orderly fashion, with corresponding numbers nearby.
For anyone wanting to complete the whole trail in one afternoon you will find that the first image is actually in Old Merton Park near the original site of Rutlish School and from there, the trail takes you down Kingston Road, then further into the ward coming out on London Road, Morden where the last image is suitably located near the local cafes.
The aim is to both encourage getting out and about for daily exercise while appreciating the abundant local history that our neighbourhood offers.

We would also like to thank the following local businesses for allowing us to display posters in their shops and offices: (and gives you hint where you will find some of the images).
Turners Estate Agents, London Road
Metronome Coffee House, Crown Road
The Leather Bottle, Kingston Road
The trail will be on display until at least September 10th.
