Merton Consultation on E-bike parking spaces

E Bike parking
At the last meeting on Tuesday 4th March we mentioned that the Council has installed some parking bays on pavements and we had been told that we would be consulted in relation to possible parking bays on the highway.
The consultation is now underway. If you wish to comment on the proposals, we suggest you explore the webpage and ensure you make your comments by 28th March.
This is what LB of Merton are saying:
“E-bike hire schemes are currently unregulated, which allows them to operate without an agreement from us with a free-floating parking model. In the absence of an agreement, e bikes can park on the public highway as long as obstruction is not caused. We intend to enter into a formal agreement with some operators which will be based on dedicated parking spaces that will allow better management of cycle parking. To facilitate this agreement, we intend to install 300 dedicated cycle hire bays throughout the borough by March 2025. “
The roads likely to receive such cycle hire bays are as follows:
Charminster
Cranleigh
Daybrook
Erridge
Kenley
Mostyn
Poplar Road & Poplar Road South
Sheridan
Tybenham
