Karin has been a councillor for Merton Park Ward since May 2006.

Karin sits on the Children and Young People Overview and Scrutiny Panel, where she chaired a review into accessing early years childcare provision. She was also a member of the team that reviewed the effects of gang culture on Merton’s youth.

Karin represents MPWIR on the Safer Neighbourhood Ward Panel. During 2008-9 she chaired the Morden Community Forum and during 2009-10 she was Deputy Mayor of Merton.

Karin has lived in Merton Park for 11 years and in Wimbledon since 1991. She was educated at Watford Grammar School for Girls and then Somerville College, Oxford, where she read English. Karin is married to Harold and they have two sons, both of whom have attended Rutlish School.

Karin had a career in market research, initially on the agency side with National Opinion Polls before moving to the client side where she worked for Imperial Inns and Taverns and then United Distillers (now Diageo). She took a career break when her sons were born and the family moved overseas to Miami and Santiago.

On returning from abroad Karin took a part time job in a publishing company before moving to her current role as a consultant in a global marketing agency.

Karin is very involved with the local community. She is the vice-chair of the John Innes Society, vice-chair of the board of governors at Rutlish School and a trustee of the Rutlish Foundation. She played a key role in the regeneration of John Innes Park and the recent work to achieve its prestigious Green Flag award.
